Internship Opportunities at BPMI
Are you a college student looking to gain invaluable industry experience?
APPLICATIONS ARE NO LONGER BEING ACCEPTED FOR SUMMER 2008 INTERNSHIPS. WE WILL BEGIN ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR SUMMER 2009 IN FALL 2008.
The BPMI Intern Program is a competitive, paid summer internship that offers an opportunity to increase exposure between BPMI and potential full-time candidates while providing a chance for mutual evaluations.
Established in 1998 as a learning tool for engineering and information systems students, the program has grown over time to now include business interns. Today, the program continues to yield success as many interns accept full-time positions within the company.
Additionally, employees who have participated in the internship program have acquired a better understanding of BPMI and the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program which has strengthened their knowledge prior to full-time employment.
- Close Mentoring - Interns will be assigned a sponsor during their internship at BPMI. This sponsor will assist them in their day-to-day efforts and provide them with a more in-depth perspective of BPMI and their assignments. This sponsor, along with a respective manager, will provide guidance and training on the specifics of BPMI's business and operation.
- Training - Interns will be provided with various training opportunities throughout the summer in the areas of nuclear engineering, nuclear propulsion support operations, project management, etc...
- Shipyard Tour - During mid-summer, the BPMI-Pittsburgh intern coordinators will take the interns to the Northrop-Grumman Newport News Shipbuilding (NGNN), in Virginia, for a one-day shipyard tour. Depending upon the shipyard and availability, the interns will have a unique opportunity to see aircraft carriers, submarines, machine shops, and other areas of interest. This will enable the interns to gain a better appreciation of what the work at BPMI supports and how massive the Navy program really is.
