Community & Mission Driven Committees

Comprised of like-minded individuals, each committee at BPMI has its own unique mission. Employees serving on these committees enjoy working and connecting with colleagues outside their day-to-day work, build their skills through project management, and find a sense of satisfaction contributing to a positive workplace environment and the communities in which we operate. Read more about each of these committees below.

The PACT promotes an environment of employee engagement, collaboration, and positive energy through the sponsorship of events and activities to emphasize the importance of our employees, their diverse backgrounds, and a healthy balance between their work and personal lives. The PACT commits to communicating and reinforcing the important work we do at BPMI and our role in supporting the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. They organize dozens of workday events each year. Popular events include the annual barbecue, Pittsburgh Pirates and Tri-City ValleyCats baseball games, and a holiday party. Other smaller on-site events range from lunchtime cornhole and ping-pong competitions to recipe contests and a chili cook-off.

For more than 20 years, the CAC has helped to make the surrounding community a better place for everyone, to give our employees opportunities to volunteer, and to foster friendships among colleagues through volunteerism. Through the efforts of the CAC, BPMI supports many organizations, including the American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, Humane Society, Salvation Army, local food banks, local school districts, and many local nonprofits.

The employees on BPMI’s Navy Link Team (NLT) are military Veterans and civilians working together to enhance the connection of BPMI’s daily work to the U.S. Navy’s mission through employee experiences, mission communications, and physical connections. It’s a challenging and important role, especially considering the support we provide occurs far from the open seas. Keeping the Navy and the safety of our Sailors at the forefront of our minds provides true meaning to our work. The NLT hosts speaker events that provide us with a first-hand perspective from prominent military personnel. They arrange donation drives that support active service members and Veterans (e.g., Collin’s Elves and the local Veterans Administration hospitals). The NLT also coordinates opportunities for BPMI employees to attend shipyard tours and ship christening and commissioning ceremonies.

BPMI’s Green Team is comprised of a group of like-minded BPMI employees who are environmentally conscious and committed to making improvements and sharing information for a greener, cleaner, and healthier BPMI. Specifically, their objectives are to improve recycling and reduce waste; choose greener, less toxic products for our facilities; provide disposal options for hard-to-recycle items, and change mindsets. Our Green Team regularly hosts recycling events (e.g., k-cups, old and used electronics, a clothing swap, and a book swap) and educational workshops (such as “How to Have an Eco-Friendly Kitchen” and “Easy Home Gardening 101”).
