Culture

Life and culture at BPMI are deeply rooted in our “One Team, One Mission” vision.

As a dedicated prime contractor for the U.S. Navy, our jobs influence and strengthen our national security. It’s a serious responsibility that requires employees to be accountable for high-level quality, attention to safety, and unfailing security. Together, our employees rally around this important mission and foster a “One Team” environment where employees feel like they belong and are valued.

Under the guidance of our president and general manager Barb Staniscia, BPMI has focused on building an environment that meets each employee where they are personally, so that we may succeed professionally. Barb leads a team of managers who are dedicated to ensuring our employees have the freedom to think and speak in a psychologically safe environment; the support they need to thrive and succeed in their career; and a deep sense of purpose and connection to their daily work.

Creating a Community of Belonging at BPMI

Looking for a career where you can be part of a larger mission? Do you envision your talents making a national impact? Do you seek to work for a company that values your unique contributions?

At BPMI, we value every employee’s perspective, talents, education, and experiences. Each employee’s uniqueness elevates our team. We hold ourselves accountable for fostering a positive working environment and culture that is filled with opportunity, support, and belonging.

Fostering a Psychologically Safe Environment

For us, the first steps to building a psychologically safe environment is onboarding training for all new employees that explores key concepts in creating a culture at work that includes and engages all members of our organization, encourages diversity of thought, fosters a sense of belonging, and aims at seeking excellence. The conversations, learning materials, and activities in this training include topics ranging from psychological safety and understanding the needs of individuals in our workforce to developing skills that ensure we are fostering an environment where all employees can perform their best.

Our Differences Make Us Stronger

We have an ethical duty to develop a workforce that is as diverse as the nation whose defense we support in fulfilling our company mission. That's why we continue to widen our geographical recruiting area to reach as far as the west coast and Puerto Rico. Additionally, we value your experience beyond what education can offer, which is why many of our positions accept equivalent experience in lieu of a formal degree requirement. To recruit top diverse talent, we are dedicated to promoting open positions through local and national partnerships, many of which serve people from historically marginalized communities.

Onboarding to BPMI

Each new employee joining the BPMI team is assigned a sponsor, even before their first day of work. Together with their manager, a new employee’s sponsor helps to make their first days, weeks, and months at BPMI a positive experience, whether that means knowing who to turn to for work-related questions or simply having someone to eat lunch with. We also have designed a special onboarding program to help new employees gain the knowledge and foundation they need for success.

Social Clubs & Sports Teams

BPMI has nearly 30 social clubs and teams that encourage fellowship among colleagues and offer employees an opportunity to foster existing interests or learn something new. From book club and Dungeons & Dragons to ski club and softball, there is something for everyone, every season. Even better, employees interested in sharing a passion with others have the opportunity to start a club of their own.

Community & Mission Driven Committees

Comprised of like-minded individuals, each committee at BPMI has its own unique mission. Employees serving on these committees enjoy working and connecting with colleagues outside their day-to-day work, build their skills through project management, and find a sense of satisfaction contributing to a positive workplace environment and the communities in which we operate. Read more about each of these committees here.
